The
Ibanez RG
|
I picked up this Ibanez RG at Guitar Center about a
year after I bought my first guitar. It was sitting behind the counter, and had
been picked over for some of its parts. It had all of its electronics, but was
missing some little things like the back cover plate, a couple of strings, and
the little rubber piece that goes on the end of the pickup switch.
The
salesman told me that I could get it for $100. I literally flew to the nearest
ATM, pulled the cash, and went back to buy it. The next day I took it to a
repair shop, and dropped about $150 getting the missing parts, new strings, and
a complete set up done. When I took it home, and plugged it in, I was blown
away.
The Ibanez guitar is one of the sweetest playing guitars on the
planet. When people talk about fast and smooth playability, the Ibanez sets the
standard.
I've been playing this guitar for about 3 years now, and I
still love it tremendously.
The only possible drawback to the Ibanez RG
is the Floyd Rose Trem. If you are playing with some friends or at a gig, and
you break a string, it takes a few minutes to get it changed out...all the more
reason to have two of them. The Floyd Rose also take a little getting used to
when tuning, but after a while, its no problem at all.
When you're ready
to move up to a better guitar than what you probably started on, I would highly
suggest sitting down in the store, and plugging one in for a bit. If you decide
to get one, you won't be disappointed.
