I bought the Squier Strat
Pak as my first guitar. I didn't know anythimg about
guitars, other that I knew I wanted to play one. This was an affordable way to
get started. I still have the whole setup, and I'll probably never get rid of
it either. It marks a turning point of sorts in my life.
The Squier
Guitar is sturdy, but you can't put really heavy
guage strings on it. It has good tone to it, but the pickups aren't like what
you will find on a more expensive fender like a
Stratocaster, or
a Telecaster. Even after 4 years,
I still pick it up and play with it on a regular basis.
The
Fender 15G Frontman Series II Guitar
Combo is really a cool little amp. I run all of my guitars
through it occasionally, and it serves me well as a small practice amp. It even
sounds just as good loud, as it does turned down.
My Strat Pak came with
an instructional
DVD that is way cool. I can't begin to figure
out how many times I watched, and played along with it. I also bought one for
my daughter who is interested in applying her violin skills to
guitar.
The new Strat Pak has headphones, a tuner, cord, book, picks,
gig bag,...everything a budding guitarist needs to get started.
If you
are about to begin the journey of learning to play guitar, this is a great
place to start. It won't cost you a bunch of money
