The Diminished Scale



The diminished mode is way cool for playing over power chords. Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath used this quite a bit. It also works well with jazz. Remember, all you have to do to impliment this when you play, is to know which key you are playing in, and then put the root on the orange dot. It doesn't matter if its in the key of A, G, E, F or any other key, the root will always be in the same place.

Notice how the root note shows up in a very regular pattern.
