The Blues Scale

In order to properly use the blues patterns below, just determine the key of the song you are playing, and put the root where the orange dot is...it doesn't matter which key you are playing in, just move the pattern to the proper place on the fretboard.

This pattern, in the key of A, would be on the 2nd through the 6th fret, and would repeat at the 14th through the 18th fret...in the key of E, it would be at the 8th through the12th fret since the fretboard repeats itself every 12 frets.

This pattern in E would be at the fourth fret, and the 16th fret
and in A, would appear first at the 10th and 22nd

This pattern would be at the 5th, and 17th in the key of A
And in the key of E, would start first with the open strings, and again at the 12th fret.

This pattern, in the key of A would start with open strings, and would of course show up again at the12th fret....see if you can figure out where this pattern shows up in the key of E.

This final blues pattern, would start at thefirst fret in the key of E, and then moving up the fretboard twelve frets would also place it at the 13th fret.
